Breaking the Silence: Dawid Tomaszewski and Zoltane Kecso on Markíza TV Slovakia
We are proud to share a powerful moment in the journey to raise awareness about stuttering and speech blocks. Dawid Tomaszewski and Zoltane Kecso recently appeared on Slovakia’s leading television network, TV Markíza, to shed light on the emotional and neurological aspects of stuttering, including the concept of Emotional Speech Blocks (ESBs).
During the interview, they spoke openly about their personal experiences with stuttering and the psychological impact it can have—particularly the internal blocks that often go unseen by others. Dawid Tomaszewski shared insights from his work with NewSpeech, emphasizing how understanding and managing emotional triggers can help individuals regain control over their speech. Zoltane Kecso added his perspective as someone who has overcome significant speech challenges and now supports others in doing the same.
One of the key elements of their appearance was the use of a powerful visual metaphor: a dam (barrier) that represents how emotions build up and block speech from flowing freely. Just as water pressures a dam until it bursts or overflows, emotional tension can create inner blocks that make speaking feel impossible. This metaphor was accompanied by a graphic poster presented on-air, helping to visually communicate the inner experience of a person who stutters to the broader public.
Zoltane also courageously shared his personal journey—from the struggles he faced growing up with a severe stutter, to the emotional challenges of daily communication, and finally, to his path toward healing and transformation. His story deeply moved the audience and highlighted how support, self-awareness, and new approaches like NewSpeech can make a lasting difference.
Appearances like this are incredibly important—not only for spreading awareness, but for breaking down stigma and creating space for open, honest conversations about speech difficulties. They inspire hope, challenge outdated stereotypes, and show people who stutter that they are not alone. When we bring these topics into the public eye, we empower the community, educate the wider society, and pave the way for greater understanding and support.
We are incredibly grateful to TV Markíza for providing a platform to talk about this important topic and to all who continue to support our mission at NewSpeech: empowering people to find their voice and speak freely.
Stay tuned for more updates and resources as we continue to break the silence around speech blocks.
